Indonesian plant-based food company Green Rebel expands to Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 29 (Bernama) -- Green Rebel, Indonesia’s alternative-protein food startup spread its wing to Malaysia today and aims to be available in 500 stores across the country by the first quarter of next year.
Chief executive officer and co-founder Helga Angelina Tjahjadi said Malaysia would be the second market expansion in Southeast Asia as Malaysian consumers are known for enjoying and trying new products with strong flavours.
“Green Rebel will be partnering chef-driven local restaurants to create different renditions of its popular dishes such as the Beefless Rendang and Chick’n Satay, as well as a wide range of other plant-based meat alternative products,” she said at the ‘Green Rebel Goes To Malaysia’ launch here today.

Green Rebel would be available across the Klang Valley at Hijau Kuala Lumpur, Simply Good Food, The Hungry Tapir, Crown Colony, Vicked Good, Atlas, Vegan District, and Tanoshi Mart.
The brand expanded to Singapore in March 2022, Malaysia in November, and it would be in the Philippines and Vietnam by the end of this year.
“Our products deliver a strong nutrition profile with high protein and fibre content while having up to 50 per cent less saturated fat, 30 per cent fewer calories, and zero cholesterol,” she added.

Launched in September 2020, Green Rebel is a Southeast Asian food tech startup making Asian-flavoured whole-cut plant-based meat and chicken by the founders of Burgreens Group, Indonesia’s leading plant-based eatery chain.
